FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio (WJW) - Officials in Fairview Park report that other school districts in the state were also targeted in a threat.
The threat prompted Fairview Park City Schools to close.
According to an updated press release, at about 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 police were notified by school officials that an email alleged explosive devices were placed around a school building.
As a result, the district canceled classes for the day. School officials said they were working with law enforcement to investigate the origin of the threat, as well as conducting "thorough inspections of all of our school buildings."
"Officers responded and thoroughly checked all district school buildings with the assistance of explosive detection dogs and found nothing suspicious," said Chief Paul Shepard in the release. "There is an ongoing investigation into the threat, and we have confidence that the schools are safe and secure."
Police later said two other school districts, one in Portage County and one in Lawrence County, received the same threat.
