FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio-- Police are releasing more information after they say a student was struck by a driver at Fairview High School, just after 3 p.m. Thursday.
Fairview Park police say the girl was in the parking lot when a 60-year-old man in a vehicle drove over a parking post, over the curb and struck the student. It happened as the man was parking his vehicle in a spot near the high school gym. Police earlier said the man may have mistaken the gas for the brake.
The girl was taken to Fairview Hospital with serious injuries.
Fairview Park police say the man showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested for OVI; police say the result of his breath test was a .177 BAC. He could face other criminal charges.
